Formula Electric Racing Hong Kong Limited confirms return of HKT and FWD as major sponsors of the HKT Hong Kong E-Prix for third consecutive season2019/01/30
Formula E World to lead a new wave of interactive edutainment at the much-enhanced Allianz E-Village
[Hong Kong, January 29, 2019]: The 2019 HKT Hong Kong E-Prix will welcome back two of its biggest supporters with the confirmation of HKT and FWD as its Title and Platinum Sponsor respectively for the third year in a row.
Taking place on Sunday March 10 on the 1.86km Central Harbourfront street circuit with the iconic Hong Kong skyline as backdrop, the third edition of the HKT Hong Kong E-Prix is round five of the 2018/19 ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
As a premier platform in Asia on the future of sustainable mobility, race organisers Formula Electric Racing Hong Kong Ltd will once again join forces with the city’s leading telecommunications provider to showcase the industry’s latest in innovation and technological advances and educate the public on embracing the future through sustainable means.

Likewise, pan-Asian insurer FWD has been a partner since Hong Kong joined the FIA Formula E family for the first time in October 2016. Known for its technology-driven solutions that make it easier for consumers to understand insurance products, the Hong Kong E-Prix is an ideal platform for FWD to excite and engage with its customers, and provide them with a unique opportunity to pursue their passion and celebrate living.

With much of the Lung Wo Road Grandstand removed to make way for a bigger and better Allianz E-Village, visitors can look forward to a number of new initiatives that will further enhance the Formula E fan experience on race day. Formula E World will make its debut at the HKT Hong Kong E-Prix, offering a chance to connect with the future of sport – Formula E – through four unique and very different zones for in-depth exploration. The Driver Zone, Strategist Zone, Fan Zone, and E-Gen Zone will have all visitors enter full of curiosity and leave as a dedicated Formula E fan.
The highly popular Gaming Arena, which houses Formula E simulators for fans to drive around the virtual Central Harbourfront track, will see an increase to 20 simulators from eight last season.
iPads will be introduced at the Gaming Arena with the installation of an exciting, world’s first interactive racing, gaming, and viewing experience. ‘Virtually Live – Ghost Racing’ allows users to race against real drivers in real races – live. Participants will be able to test their skills against some of the best Formula E drivers in the world.
Since November, the ‘Race Around Hong Kong’ initiative has been making its way around the city for the general public to try the virtual Central Harbourfront street circuit through the simulators. Title sponsor HKT will host the finale in February in Experiential Zone at its “io.t by HKT” concept store at ELEMENTS shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui where participants who recorded the fastest lap times across the whole series will win 2019 HKT Hong Kong E-Prix BOSS | EMOTION CLUB tickets respectively.
Look out for the Formula E Adventure Tram, which will make its way between Causeway Bay and Sheung Wan on March 8 and 9, offering the funnest ride across Hong Kong Island for those cool enough to try. For eight hours each day, selected fans can create their unique ‘Sounds of the Electric Vehicle’ onboard through an immersive experience that reinterprets the Gen2 car engine sounds into personalised beats. Some of the Formula E drivers will also make an appearance at the Formula E Adventure Tram at certain times, making this fan activation one of the most sought after Instagrammable experiences of the campaign.

With less than six weeks to go, limited Grandstand tickets remain, which are priced at HK$2,880 for both Observation Wheel and Tamar Park grandstands. These include all day venue access, and complementary pass to the Allianz E-Village. Concession tickets are available for children aged 5-12 years and senior citizens aged 65-and-over. Allianz E-Village tickets, without access to the race track, are available at HK$50.
